Stop the War

Stop the War

I was one of the founders of King's Lynn Stop the War in 2003. I have continued to be an organiser (with Jacqueline Mulhallen and Sean Finlay) ever since, including doing much of the backroom work, including:

  • Designing the banner, leaflets, posters and the newsletter;

  • Editing the newsletter, and setting up the online version – it is now edited by Jacqueline Mulhallen;

  • Helping create events, such as Making Peace in 2014;

  • Taking photographs and making videos of events.

I have also written many anti-war poems, and some of these appear on this site. A collection of my poems on war, terrorism and refuges, A Moment of Disbelief, was published in July 2017.

The group has sent members to almost every national protest, as well as organising local vigils, protests and arts events in King's Lynn, Downham Market and Wisbech.

Downham vigil

Two King's Lynn Stop the War videos appear here, a vigil in Downham Market in 2012, and the unveiling in 2014 of a restored Anti Air War memorial originally commissioned by Sylvia Pankhurst.

Elsewhere on the site are Strange Meeting and Marching for Peace.

Click here for the Anglia TV news report on the KLStW vigil in Wisbech on 12 December 2015. William read the poems Like God and Don't Tell Me Your Care at this event.
