Pearls Before Swine

Pearls Before Swine

by William Alderson

She must have burnt my book,

Hand-set, hand-printed, written by hand,

Because when she died

There was no sign of it.

Those words, inspired by love,

The act, the feelings, the pain of loss,

Had come from a heart

Which always jarred with her.

So when I find this gift,

Precious, hand-crafted, and rich with gems,

At a car-boot sale,

What can I say to you?
